Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort in Blessington Co. Wicklow has benefitted from substantial investment since being initially purchased by PREM Group in 2016. Works saw improvements to the award-winning championship golf course, bedrooms upgraded, a new lobby and a new hotel bar added. Several grand reception rooms in the original Manor House were restored, while a stylish and effortlessly chic bistro style eatery, ‘Fia Rua’, was introduced.

We have successfully renegotiated a €38m debt facility with Swedish lender Proventus. The facility, which was due at the end of August, has been extended out until 2022. We entered into the €38m debt facility in 2015 to purchase several significant freehold assets, including Tulfarris Hotel and Golf Resort in Co Wicklow.

Heading into our busy summer season, the majority of our properties were forced to close or limit services to help stop the spread of the virus. We were very grateful that the initial re-opening date was brought forward a few weeks earlier than planned. However, the most recent two-week shutdown in Kildare, Laois and Offaly can only be described as a huge shock to our management team and staff at The Osprey Hotel in Naas.

Our CEO Jim Murphy has called for an immediate review of the reopening dates for hotels. Under the current COVID- 19 government roadmap hotels are not due to open until the 20th of July, which we believe will be far too late for hotels to try and salvage what will be left of the summer season.
