Leadership Counts Like Never Before

As we come to terms with the effects of increased Covid-19 restrictions, it is refreshing to reflect on some positive news within PREM Group in recent weeks.

On Thursday 15th October, several PREM associates were recognised at the LIFT Ireland Awards for living key leadership values in their work and personal lives.

Now, like never before it’s up to each one of us to be leaders in the moments that count – whether that’s taking time to try to see things from another person’s perspective or summoning the determination to overcome bad news or a setback.

Leadership moments are not just about the big decisions at a senior level within the company – it’s just as important to be a leader in the quiet and quick decisions every one of us make in every interaction with each other. Being conscious of the impact that our inner thoughts have on our ability to lead ourselves and others through tough times is a leadership skillset in itself, and one that is being demanded of many of us, regularly, these days. Strong personal leadership being exercised by people in every corner of our organization, every day, is what breathes life into our company ethos – ‘Do the right thing’.

The values attributed to nominees within PREM Group through the LIFT Ireland Awards process are:

  • Positive Attitude

  • Empathy and Understanding

  • Honesty and Integrity

  • Competence

  • Innovation and Adaptability

  • Dedication and Determination

Amongst the long list of LIFT Ireland nominees and shortlistees, there were several representing PREM Group and many of the extended PREM family of companies including – PREMIER SUITES, PREM Hospitality, Sprint Digital, Cahernane House Hotel Killarney, Aspect Hotel Park West and Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort.

Our biggest celebration of the virtual awards night was for the announcement of Clara Miller (PREM Group E-learning Content Developer) as outright winner in the leadership category of Competence. Here is just a snippet of the reasons for Clara’s win:

“Clara captures PREM culture in all her learning programmes, presenting them on our company learning and communications portal (Eureka) in the most professional and warm manner while also managing the help desk for the system. The consistent quality of the work Clara produces and the way she presents her work is the product of practice and commitment to her profession.”

“Clara is always interested in learning more about how to deliver learning to our team. She will keep working on her programmes until she is satisfied that they meet her own very high standard, while being extremely humble about her abilities. If anyone has recommendations on the work she produces she always takes it on board and genuinely takes pleasure in receiving the feedback. When the system glitches, she does not stop until she finds the reason for the glitch. The way she communicates with people when trying to sort out problems is to be admired – her gentle and reassuring approach ensures she uncovers all the information she needs to resolve problems quickly and to the satisfaction of everybody. Clara is a quietly competent leader and a great example of how living LIFT values contributes to a positive work culture and ultimately better business performance.”
