Four Great Successes at Fáilte Ireland’s Employer Excellence Awards

Last night, Fáilte Ireland hosted their inaugural Employer Excellence Awards at the magnificent Guinness Storehouse. The atmosphere was electric as representatives from a wide variety of tourism businesses gathered in a spirit of camaraderie to acknowledge and celebrate their commitment to making the industry an appealing and rewarding place to work.

Twelve PREM Group attendees representing our Irish properties were delighted to bring back the phenomenal news of four great successes to the wider team. Starting with Best Employer for Ireland’s Ancient East which was awarded to The Hoban Hotel Kilkenny, followed by best medium business and small business awarded respectively to Aspect Hotel Park West, Dublin 12 and Cahernane House Hotel, Killarney. The fourth win was for Best Employer in the hotel group category which the attending team accepted on behalf of every single person working in PREM Group Ireland.

Over 170 tourism businesses took part in the first intake of the Fáilte Ireland programme which launched last September. As part of the programme, Fáilte Ireland engaged internationally recognised employee experience surveyors, Great Place to Work, to invite staff of the participating businesses to complete their Trust Index© Survey. This survey gives the team the chance to highlight the strengths of their workplace, along with areas for further development. Last night’s winning businesses were chosen based on this survey feedback.

Speaking after the Awards, our CEO, Jim Murphy, said ‘I am so proud of all our team members and the positive culture we strive to maintain every day we come to work. It’s respectful and supportive interactions with each other at every level within the organisation that cumulatively creates an environment where people can thrive and the business succeeds. I am so grateful to everyone who completed the Fundamentals of People Management Training programme and participated in the Great Place to Work Survey, two key aspects of the Failte Ireland Employer Excellence Programme. We’ll enjoy this moment of success, while not forgetting there is always room to improve. We are tuned into to the feedback given through the survey and are actively seeking opportunities for us to become an even better place to work.’

Louise Barry, HR Manager for PREM Hospitality, who co-ordinated the Employer Excellence Programme roll-out expressed her thanks to colleagues ‘It was encouraging to see how well the programme was received across the group. We are very pleased with this outcome as it is a data-based reflection of the great efforts made by many people at all levels across the group who shape the work environment into a place where respect, credibility, fairness, camaraderie and pride can flourish’

Sarah Marr, our Human Resources Manager in Ireland and UK, commented that ‘Fáilte Ireland have rolled out the Employer Excellence Programme at a time of great need for the tourism and hospitality businesses. Recruitment, retention, and engagement is an industry wide challenge, and this initiative is a great way of highlighting to job seekers and those considering their career options that hospitality and tourism can be great places to work. Sincere thanks to Fáilte Ireland for supporting the industry in this way. Congratulations to all businesses who have commenced the Employer Excellence Programme. Hopefully more businesses will come on board and together we can present solid, data-backed evidence that the hospitality and tourism industries are attractive places to work’.
