PREM Group Launches Updated Dignity at Work Training

There were smiles all round at the recent launch of PREM Group’s updated ‘Dignity at Work Policy’. Rightly so as the company celebrates the completion of a widespread awareness programme focusing on dignity in the workplace and how to maintain a good work environment for all.

Just under 200 team members have undertaken workshops covering subjects such as unconscious bias, the definitions of bullying, harassment and sexual harassment, and the preventative and solution focused processes available to deal with interpersonal workplace grievances.

‘With the introduction in Ireland of the Code of Practice for Employers and Employees on the Prevention and Resolution of Bullying at Work in December last year we thought this was a perfect time to raise awareness about the processes we have in place to keep a positive work environment’, commented Louise Barry, HR Manager, PREM Hospitality. ‘The code provides employers with a framework that helps to informally resolve most situations that can arise. Through our awareness programme, we brought this framework alive for our team members and delved further into the topic of dignity and respect in all our communication with each other.’

Jim Murphy, CEO PREM Group, speaking at the launch congratulated all who participated in the programme - ‘PREM Group’s ethos is ‘do the right thing’ – we are all human and sometimes we can fall short of this. However, an awareness programme like this helps to remind us that our words and actions have an impact on others – we should be mindful of what we do and say. And when someone does feel they are being treated poorly by someone else in the workplace they should not be afraid to speak up about it and use the processes available to help resolve issues. 9 times out of 10 these issues can be resolved informally. Thanks to all who participated in this positive, pro-active initiative that helps maintain a happy and respectful work environment for all PREM colleagues .’
