Global Colleague Week 2025

Thank you once more to everyone who shared their stories, cultures, pictures and recipes and helped us to celebrate  our PREM Group Global Colleague Appreciation week in early September.

We have over 45 different nationalities represented on our teams across the group in Ireland & UK and we were delighted to have the opportunity to spotlight different team members thoughout the month. Their stories have given us such an insight into their traditions and cultures, making us all the richer for what you have shared so thank you to all those who participated.

Fun facts – top 5 nationalities represented amongst our colleagues:

  1. Irish

  2. English

  3. Goan

  4. Polish

  5. Ukrainian

…with Brazilian, Romanian, Lithuanian, Italian and Indian making up the top ten.

PREM Group are very proud that in our last Great Place to Work® survey our score for Diversity and Inclusion was 94%, recognition of the efforts of every team member to welcome and include everyone in our team.

What we did this week

Throughout the week we had 24 colleagues who gave a short snapshot of their stories and cultures – these were so enjoyable and very educational – with a wide variety of interesting cultures and traditions represented across the group. Ranging from elephant polo in Scotland to motor bikes in Vietnam, Carnival Viva in Goa and the Erta Ale “Smoking Mountain” volcano in Ethiopia we learned a lot and are already planning our next breaks!

We also hosted two ‘Dignity at Work’ sessions for our Irish and UK teams - an opportunity to reflect on how we all play a part in ensuring that everyone at PREM Group feels safe, valued and respected.

Celebrations across the properties

Across our properties, our colleagues cooked and shared their national dishes with their teams - bringing a taste of home to our canteens. Thank you to everyone who cooked these tasty treats and contributed.

A special shout out to:

  • PREMIER SUITES Dublin: the team shared delicious treats from home – plantain chips and guacamole - side by side with Cadbury’s and Tayto.

  • Cahernane’s team enjoyed an array of dishes, but hard to beat the fairy bread from New Zealand or the apple tart from Tipperary.

  • The team in Aspect Hotel Park West enjoyed some treats from around the world  homemade by the team including Baileys Cheescake representing Ireland, Millet Mousse cakes from Goa and homemade profiteroles (Did you know the initial concept of the sweet puff originated in Italy, and the dough was developed and perfected in France (pate a choux) with the modern cream filled version.) The team in Aspect Hotel also launched a Gratitude Board where team members got the opportunity to say thanks to each other.

  •  In Kilkenny, the Hoban team indulged in a delightful selection of sweet treats from around the world - from traditional Polish cheesecake and rich coffee cakes to locally baked muffins and the irresistible Dark Fantasy Choco Fills from Goa.

  • The Osprey Hotel proudly celebrated with a feast of treats spread over several days. Team members came together to enjoy the festivities and take part in a heartwarming activity - sharing pictures and stories from their home countries. It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate their diverse backgrounds and strengthen the sense of community.

  • The Viking Hotel kitchen team for their selection of blaas  and red lead – a unique Waterford tradition, blaas are a bread which has European PGI status and can only be made in Waterford in the traditional way.  The team there also enjoyed Brazilian snacks and a selection of dishes from Sri Lanka and Goa.

  • The team in Leopold Sheffield who held a food festival with national dishes representing many countries.

  • In Scotland, at PREMIER SUITES Edinburgh they enjoyed  some homemade Italian Gnocchi and Bruschetta prepared and cooked by our Italian team members.

Our Photographic competition

We had photos  entered featuring interesting national traditions, food and sights from across the globe and congratulations to our winner, Darnita Abdul Jalil from the Osprey Hotel, who gave us pictures of traditional food, costumes and sights of Malaysia.

Everyone was delighted to learn more about our colleagues and taste the delicious national dishes, we hope you enjoy this selection of photos and thank you again to everyone who participated, and put in such an effort to make all the events a success.
