Beyond The Moon Golf Charity Event, 2018

PREM Group’s annual golf charity event at Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort in Wicklow was another great success. For the 13th year in a row, the nominated charity is Beyond the Moon, who offer families with a seriously ill child the opportunity to enjoy a memorable, cost-free vacation in a child-friendly environment and to spend carefree quality time together, far away from hospitals and treatments.

CEO of PREM Group, Jim Murphy said, “We have been running this golf classic now for 13 years and it just gets bigger and better each year. To date, we have raised over €176,000 for this brilliant charity which allows us to nominate families from all the regions in which we operate hotels."

43 teams of four players took to the championship golf course, with a double shotgun start at 9am and 2pm. The scramble format brought a great sense of fun to the event while keeping its competitive edge for those keen to take a prize home!

As a surprise, on the 6th hole, if any player was successful in having a hole in one, they would be gifted an overnight stay for four at Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort.

Tulfarris Hotel & Golf Resort’s Touring Professional, Simon Thornton, was on-hand for the day, providing an in-depth golf clinic for all participants. To add a little twist, each team was also allowed to bring Simon in on one shot during their round and count his shot towards their score. This worked out particularly well for the PREM Group team which consisted of Jim Murphy (PREM Group CEO), Dick Bourke (PREM Group Non-Executive Director), Noel Kelly (PREM Board of Directors) and Gary Shaw (PREM Digital Marketer), when they decided to bring Simon on-board for their second shot on the last hole from 70 yards, where Simon put it straight into the hole for an eagle! The PREM Group team finished in second position with a NETT score of 51. Gary also took home the longest drive on the last hole with the PREM team definitely finishing on a high!

A raffle held during the meal after the round of golf generated an additional €3,200. 40 prizes were raffled out which included hotel breaks, TV’s, BBQ’s, smartphones and more. An extended thank you to all of the event’s sponsors, and contributors, who make this day very special knowing all efforts are going to a worthy cause.
