London Visitor Survey: how guests decide where to stay

There was a very interesting article in Hotel-Industry.co.uk about how people decide where to stay.

Respondents reported “Good public transport links” as the most important factor, with 42% of visitors to London saying this most influenced their choice and a third of visitors wanted to be in or close to the city centre.

As a reminder as to the importance of properties managing their TripAdvisor listing, 15% of people reporting it influenced their accommodation choice, personal recommendations accounted for only 6%.

Of particular interest was that overall serviced apartments scored more highly than hotels for both satisfaction of the quality of accommodation (8.1 v 7.9) and better value for money (8.0 v 7.8). It seems more and more people are discovering the benefits of serviced apartment accommodation, and with locations such as Premier Apartments London Limehouse it’s easy to see why.
